NEWSPAPERS
(Contd.)
Mercantile Printing Office had gone; and Noronha's had become Noronha and Company, being now located at 5, 7, and 9, Zetland Street.
By 1890 Mr. W. W. Brewer had left Kelly and Walsh and started Brewer and Company. The Commercial Printing Office had gone to Wellington Street, Mr. Gutierrez remained in Wyndham Street, and Noronha's were still at Zetland Street; but Souza had gone.
Finally we might take a glance at the opening of the Present century. We find in 1900 that the Commercial Printing Office had vanished, and Gutierrez had gone to 13, Mosque Street, Guedes and Co. (who had come into existence in the Eighties as publishers of ◊ Extremo Oriente, at 7 Wyndham Street), were now printers and publishers at 9-A Duddell Street; and the "Oceania," lithographers, printers and book-binders had appeared in Beaconsfield Arcade. Noronha's still operated at Zetland Street.
Here we might leave the subject for the present, except to note that Noronha's had moved to 6 Des Voeux Road some ten years later; and in 1922 went to Wyndham Street. They are easily the oldest of the Portuguese business concerns in Hong Kong, with a local history of ninety years.
